I don't remember where I first ran into Bill - probably on the Cre8asite forum couple of decades ago. But I do recall being impressed from the beginning with his ability to see and present all sides of an issue. My first interaction with him was asking him a stupid noob question (I was, after all, just a stupid noob then) and getting a very patient, non-judgmental answer. I started following his blog back then, and I don't think I've failed to ready anything he's published since. His understanding of search is thorough and he has no problem sharing his knowledge with those willing to learn. Also, he never forgets ANYTHING! Dates, names, patents... they're all indelibly etched in his mind.
I've also had the privilege to share a screen with him many times, starting when Gabriella Sannino and I interviewed him about 7 years ago - up to the last couple of years that I've sat in on many of the Bogus Hangouts Bill and Ammon started. To say that I've learned a lot from him over the years would be a major understatement. More than a mentor and highly respected colleague, I also consider him to be a good friend.
Get back on your feet quickly, Bill... you're missed!
