As with many here, Bill has been a constant reminder to be intellectually curious about more than what is working today as we see it. He inspires me to look deeper into how and why things work now and how and why they may or may not work in the future. Every spring I teach a graduate-level class in Information Retrieval for the Information School at the University of Washington. A key part of my student's education in how search engines work come from a curated list of assigned readings from Bill's many outlets, GofishDigital, SEO by the Sea and others.
