Just heard the news about Bill and, like many others, want to wish him well and remind him that he's valued as a human being, not just as an experienced SEO.
I've known him for many years and he's one of only a few who are approachable to both pros and beginners, treating both with respect and integrity - a rare combination in the industry today. Don't get me wrong though - if he smelt BS he called it and explained his difference of opinion in a kind way.
My story is more an example of his character, that involves the great team at SEMRush. He would regularly take part in their Twitter chat and answer every question in the most simplest of ways, without compromising the depth of his technical answer. For those new to SEO, his approach helped them immensely. He isn't short of manners either, with a "thank you" showing his need to keep a conversation humane.
A gentleman indeed and an exquisite one that now needs our support and live to help him through this challenging time.
A legend..
