Bill has helped me feel both more welcomed and enthused about being in the SEO community, and his knowledge sharing has and will continue to make me a better SEO.

My interactions with Bill have been mostly on Twitter. When I first switched from content marketing to SEO full-time, I naturally gravitated to SEO Twitter. In truth, Bill's willingness to answer my questions and engage in discussions early on was a huge catalyst for me to feel like a real part of that community.

Then, when I had my first chance to put my name on a blog post about SEO, I naturally included several excerpts and references to Bill's articles. Bill was not only gracious enough to peer-review those sections, but he also asked me to share the article with him when it was published, which he retweeted. That's still some of the most appreciated encouragement I've had in my career.

Aside from personal interactions, there's also the infinite streams of SEO and Google patent knowledge that Bill shares. It's astonishing to stop and think about how much of the SEO work I do today has been influenced by concepts I've learned about from his writings

And let's also not forget Bill's courageousness to speak up on social and political issues and remind us all that life is bigger than just SEO. And that's a perfect takeaway.

Get well soon, Bill!
