I'd read Bill's articles & posts from the day I started in the industry, he's always been incredibly knowledgeable but more than that, he is a willing and able teacher. I first got to speak to him when I joined Threadwatch, so probably 2004, a forum that was famously insolent but did pride itself on being less noise, more signal. Bill brought a much needed level of experience and maturity into many of those threads. It delighted me when I finally got to meet him, maybe a year later in Vegas, when he not only recognised me, but took my wife and I to lunch. He really shows how the industry should work, welcoming newbies and creating a culture of learning and mutual support. I always like to think of that lesson when SEO dramas explode on social media. We really are so lucky as an industry to have people like Bill - and I look forward to having him around for a long time yet! Get well Bill.
