Bill was one of those people I followed in the industry long before I ever did anything of note myself. So when I finally met him in person - around 2009 - I think? I was already in awe of him enough that I was star-struck by his presence. I remember trying to carry on a conversation with him and a few other notable SEOs and realizing I was completely out of my depth. I wish I could say that changed over the years, but although I now consider him a friend, I still feel completely out of my depth when I talk to Bill! Smart, knowledgeable and giving, Bill has always amazed me with his ability to recall a fact or a date with ease; I'm betting he even had the patent numbers memorized. Early on, he seemed to find his niche in this industry, and thank goodness he did, because I've tried to read some of those Google patent applications - and well... better you than me, my friend. You've given so much to this industry and I just want you to know I really appreciate you and thank you for your contributions. Get well soon!
