I first stumbled onto Bill’s work in the olden, early days when I was out floating and poking around on my own trying to learn at least a little something about SEO that I could put to use for our web dev/design business (I am not an SEO). Most of it was way over my head but luckily, not all of it, and Bill was a good guy to start learning from. I followed him, imagining he was a bigwig, a pretty fancy and famous smart guy, a superstar in a world where I would forever and always be an outsider peeking in through closed blinds. Nope. When I met him years later on Google Plus around 2013ish probably through Ammon Johns, who I also met on G+, it was apparent I had it all wrong.

Bill’s patience, kindness, and willingness to teach, to openly share knowledge and his inclusive nature were immediately obvious as was his brilliance. I can’t recall how we got more personally acquainted, maybe through the Bogus show, but it’s always been a pleasure to know Bill and to continue learning from him. I always listen closely when he speaks. All that is true, but I can’t leave out how much his meandering walks, photos, love of plants and the outdoors, mementos of his daily life resonates and has been an inspiring source of lovely conversation.

Bill! You may be down to earth, genuine and honest, sensitive in the way all the best men are, but you’re still a star and I am thinking about you all day long, hoping for you to get well with as much grace as you long for.
